LAPD’s Deputy Chief Oliver Morris And Others To Plunge Into Icy Pool During Special Olympics NM Fundraiser Friday During Conference At Buffalo Thunder

Los Alamos Deputy Chief of Police Oliver Morris is celebrating 20 years of volunteering for Special Olympics New Mexico with a splash. On Friday, Feb. 2, during the Law Enforcement Torch Run Guardians of the Flame State Conference at Buffalo Thunder Resort, Morris will represent LAPD as he and other law enforcement officers plunge into the icy outdoor pool at the Resort to raise funds for Special Olympics New Mexico.

While you may be shivering at the thought of a Polar Plunge in early February, it is not too late to donate to Morris and or other law enforcement teams participating in the event. You may also witness the event in person at Buffalo Thunder from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. Friday and make your donation there.

The conference began Thursday and ends Friday. Participating LETR agencies in addition to LAPD and Santa County Police Department, include Rio Rancho Police Department, Valencia County Sheriff’s Office, Lea County Sheriff’s Office and Farmington Police Department. Activities include a forum on the difference between mental illness and intellectual disability, training sessions and social events for law enforcement, SONM athletes and their families.
