COUNTY NEWS RELEASE
The Los Alamos County Council unanimously selected Perry Klare at the January 23 work session to complete Probate Judge Michael Redondo’s term. Judge Redondo announced in November his intent to resign his position effective February 2.
Raised in Los Alamos, Klare is a practicing attorney who returned to the community in 2020 to care for his father after his mother passed. He brings a wealth of legal experience and knowledge of the community to the position. Klare stated that nine years working at the Law Offices of the Public Defender in Albuquerque taught him the importance of being compassionate and straightforward with his clients. As the probate judge, he commits to being timely, ethical, and empathetic in his duties.
After answering councilors’ questions, including his willingness to officiate weddings, Klare was appointed to complete the probate judge term ending December 31, 2026. Additionally, the Council thanked Judge Redondo for his dedication and public service to the Los Alamos County community.
A formal swearing-in ceremony for Klare is being planned and will be announced shortly. This event will mark the official commencement of his term as probate judge and community members will be invited to attend.
Editor’s note: Former County Councilor David Izraelevitz had applied for the position but Council Chair Denise Derkacs announced that Izraelevitz had withdrawn his application.
