LAPD NEWS RELEASE

The Los Alamos Police Department (LAPD) is debuting a new vehicle design for marked patrol units, including a different color scheme.  Residents will start to see black police units patrol the streets of Los Alamos.  These colors were purchased to be financially responsible.

“Our department wanted white police units to match our current fleet, however, the cost for black units was cheaper by thousands of dollars. We owe it to the community to be financially responsible; ensuring the new units were white vehicles was not worth the extra cost,” Commander Roberts stated.

LAPD has received numerous compliments on the new units, and appreciate the community’s understanding.

Editor’s note: Cmdr. Roberts told the Reporter that LAPD will still have white units. He said LAPD took possession of four black units so far and four more are coming soon.
