Lonnie Royce Mehlin, 74, passed away peacefully, surrounded by family and loved ones, on December 21, 2023. 

Lonnie was born to Robert and Lola Mehlin on August 4, 1949, in Humboldt, Nebraska. He was the middle of three children. He graduated from Brock High School in 1967 and graduated from New Mexico State University in 1997. He worked for the Lincoln telephone company and later for LANL. He was an avid fly fisherman, talented woodworker, and enjoyed anything outdoors. In retirement, he spent his free time tying his own flies, building and working on projects, and spending time with family and friends. 

He is survived by his daughter, Becky Mehlin, brother Randall Mehlin (Donna), sister Bobbi Holm (Kent), significant other Kathy Sims, aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews, along with many valued friends. He was preceded in death by his wife of 31 years, Karen Mehlin, his parents Robert and Lola Mehlin, and infant daughter Molly Mehlin. 

A memorial to celebrate his life will be announced at a later date. The family wishes to thank everyone for their thoughts, prayers and help throughout this difficult time.
