Senor Tortas is coming back to Los Alamos. Victor and Amalia Castillo will be serving the same delicious dishes with a different concept. They will be opening their newly refurbished kitchen at 11 a.m. Monday, Jan. 8 within Smith’s Marketplace in Los Alamos.

The Castillos have been in the food services industry for more than 20 years. They operated the former Senor Tortas on Louisiana Boulevard S.E. in Albuquerque and served their popular food items at the Downtown Growers Market. In Los Alamos, their first location was behind the American Legion. They also operated one of their food trucks next to the Boomerang store on Central Avenue and were a popular vendor during the Summer Concert at Ashley Pond.

Their hours at Smith’s will be from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m. daily including Sundays. Breakfast will include $6 “grab and go” breakfast burritos for $6 each available from 6 a.m., as well as huevos rancheros, chicken fried steak and eggs, and biscuits and gravy. On Sundays, their special breakfasts will add Eggs Benedict and omelettes for brunch.

Senor Tortas will also host Taco Tuesday and Seafood Thursday with both American and Mexican seafood recipes such as gumbo, ceviche and chowder. Their popular enchiladas, sandwiches and homemade barbacoa will be back also. A new addition to the menu will be homemade baklava.

Patrons can purchase food to go or dine in at the Smith’s seating area or at the bar. When the weather cooperates, they can dine on the patio where a portable bar available will be offered at times.

On opening day, Jan. 8, Senor Tortas will open at 11 a.m. with a ribbon cutting by the Los Alamos Chamber of Commerce will hold a ribbon cutting. Victor and Amalia are excited for all their old patrons and lots of new ones to join them at their new location.
