American Legion Post 90 is hosting the Wreaths Across America ceremony at 10 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 16 at Guaje Pines Cemetery. The ceremony will be followed by the laying of Remembrance Wreaths on the graves of our country’s fallen heroes and the act of saying the name aloud of each and every veteran buried there.
If you have never been to a Wreaths Across America ceremony, the fact that it always seems so cold and quiet as the wreaths are being placed by members of the community on the graves of so many veterans, is very moving. It reminds attendees of the forlorn conditions in which many of our veterans served and/or died.
In addition to American Legion members, Los Alamos Youth Hockey team members, sororities. scouts and other groups as well as dozens of individuals will be on hand to help complete the task of placing the wreaths. The graves to receive wreaths will be marked prior to the ceremony.
Guaje Pines Cemetery is located at 901 Range Road, off Diamond Drive in Los Alamos.
