Los Alamos Public Schools has denied claims made by LAPS parent and former LAPS consultant Luckie Daniels in an 85-page lawsuit she filed last week against LAPS in First Judicial District Court that has been assigned to Judge Jason Lidyard.
The Los Alamos Reporter gave Supt. Jennifer Guy a heads up Monday that an article on the complaint in the lawsuit was forthcoming. At that point, Guy was not aware of the filing. In an email to the Reporter, Supt. Guy and Board President Antonio Jaurigue said LAPS became aware of the lawsuit Monday but had not been formally served with the complaint.
“While the District denies the claims that have been made, we are unable to comment further on pending litigation,” the email states. “The Los Alamos Public Schools is committed to nondiscrimination and works to ensure our educational environment is free from harassing or discriminatory conduct.”
Named in the lawsuit are Supt. Guy and Asst. Supt. J. Carter Payne, as well as School Board members Antonio Jaurigue, Christine Bernstein, Ellen Specter, Melanie Colgan and Sondra Wyman.

As soon as any further documents are filed with the Court, such as the LAPS response to the complaint, they will be covered.
