The full schedule is located at https://www.losalamosmainstreet.com/winterfest23

The highlight of the weekend, the annual Holiday Lights Parade, is on Saturday, Dec. 2. Organized by the Los Alamos MainStreet and Creative District, the parade marches along Central Ave. beginning at 6 pm, with this year’s theme, “Winter Around the World”. Central Ave., from the roundabout to Oppenheimer, will be closed from 4 pm to 8 pm for the festivities. Judges this year include Jill Lang, Owner of Samizdat Bookstore and Tea House, Brandi Engeman, Executive Director of Los Alamos Arts Council, Connie Goettee, Los Alamos Public Schools Public Information Officer and County Councilor, Randall Ryti.

Numerous local businesses will expand their hours and menus including the new Wolf and Mermaid Enchanted Roasters, which will stay open until 8 pm. Samizdat Bookstore and Tea House will have hot chocolate and tea available and will be open throughout the parade and feature a performance by the Los Alamos Jazz Project directly after, from approximately 7-8:30 p.m. A community favorite, Blue Window Bistro, will once again be open for this special Saturday event beginning at 4 pm. Reservations are strongly recommended. The restaurant will also have holiday drink specials for the entire family.

HMS Implacable, the local chapter of The Royal Manticoran Navy, is supporting the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve Toys for Tots campaign and asks that the public consider bringing a new, unwrapped toy to the parade. Uniformed crew members will be collecting the toys alongside their float entry.

Directly after the parade, the community is invited to attend the tree lighting at Ashley Pond.

MainStreet and the Chamber of Commerce would like to remind everyone to please support the local organizations and businesses and shop small. New this year, double Blue Bucks tickets will be offered on WinterFest Saturday, December 2 at participating businesses. Holiday shoppers will get a chance to win cash and prizes with every Blue Bucks ticket. Thanks to the sponsorship from Enterprise Bank & Trust, you can Shop Small & Win Big through Saturday, December 9. Winners will be announced on December 12.

With over 20 events spanning Friday evening through Sunday afternoon, there is something fun for everyone. Find more information about WinterFest activities and events throughout the holiday season, as well as a local Holiday Shopping Guide, at LosAlamosMainStreet.com/WinterFest.
