COUNTY NEWS RELEASE
Los Alamos County is under contract with Hasse Contracting Company Inc. to construct the Urban Trail Phase I & II Multi-use Trail Project. This project will construct an approximately 1-mile long 10ft wide concrete multi-use trail for pedestrians and bicyclists.
Phase I starts at the intersection of Trinity Drive/20th Street and runs north through the Fuller Lodge grounds to the intersection of Ponderosa Street/Spruce Street. Phase II starts where Phase I ends and continues north through the wooded area by the Canyon Road Tennis Courts, before continuing along the north side of Canyon Road to the Aquatic Center.
Hasse Contracting is in the area performing preliminary work such as mobilization, construction staking, and staging area setup for Phase I. This work is in preparation for starting construction work activities on Phase I within the next two weeks, weather permitting. Phase I is expected to be completed by June 2024 and Phase II by December 2024.
Press releases outlining the following weeks construction activities and impacts will be distributed weekly throughout the construction. Once the County’s Cone Zone is reactivated, these notifications will be included in it each week.
Hours of Construction:
Hasse Contracting Company Inc. will generally be working from 7:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., Monday through Friday. Weekend work may be conducted occasionally if construction activities are impacted by weather.
Traffic Impact:
Traffic impacts are expected to be minimal, but pedestrian impacts will be more significant with pedestrian detours signed around work areas. To minimize disruption, County staff and Hasse Contracting Company Inc. crews will notify and coordinate with any affected businesses and residents on certain construction logistics, such as ingress and egress and to coordinate driveway apron reconstruction. In addition, services such as mail delivery, trash and recycling collection, school bus, and emergency services will always be maintained. Businesses and residents can
expect to experience periodic construction noise. Motorists and pedestrians are advised to use caution around construction activities and avoid entering the work zone.
