It’s easy to become engrossed in personal challenges and the barrage of negative news in our daily lives, leading to a dystopian perspective of our world. Human nature likes to fixate on the negative experiences, and is amplified by media and society. Who wants to talk about all the little things that make up the overwhelmingly positive aspects of their daily life? Consciously seeking gratitude can help restore a more balanced and objective perspective on reality. By acknowledging and appreciating the diverse roles and efforts of individuals who contribute to our community, we not only improve our mental health, but also show unity, compassion, and appreciation instrumental in building a community where each member feels valued. There’s so many people to be grateful for!
- Educators who encourage students to ask questions
- Health care providers who cure us from disease and tend to our wounds
- First responders who put themselves on the line to rescue us
- Soldiers who courageously defend our liberty
- Grocery store workers who keep the shelves stocked with food and essential supplies
- Drivers who transport us safely to our destinations
- Utility workers who keep the lights on and water flowing
- Sanitation workers who manage our waste, protecting our health and environment
- Government officials who make decisions in the public interest
- Postal workers and delivery drivers who ensure our packages and letters arrive timely
- Volunteers who selflessly give their time, labor, and sometimes even their organs to those in need
- Small business entrepreneurs who provide tailored goods and services to the community
- Service workers who make daily life pleasant and efficient
- Trade workers who build, maintain, and repair our homes and workplaces
- Scientists and engineers who improve our understanding of the world and enhance our lives with technology
- Artists who enrich our lives with beauty, creativity, and expression
- Athletes and coaches who inspire us with their dedication to physical excellence and sportsmanship
- Parents who make immeasurable contributions nurturing the next generation
- Spiritual leaders who provide moral direction and regard for human life
- Environmental stewards who champion conservation and preservation of our natural resources for future generations
Every gesture of gratitude we show our neighbors helps to catalyze a more cohesive community and inspire others to continue their positive contributions. Thank you, Los Alamos!
