MANNM Sponsors One-Mile Or 5K Run/Walk Nov. 18 To Bring Awareness To Growing Problem Of Diabetes

MANNM NEWS RELEASE

November is National Diabetes Month and Nov. 14 is World Diabetes Day. The day was created in 1991 by the International Diabetes Federation and the World Health Organization to bring awareness to the growing problem of diabetes.

The theme for the day is Access to Diabetes Care.

Statistics indicate that 1 in 10 adults worldwide have diabetes and over 90% of those have type 2 diabetes. This is a condition that can be modified through lifestyle changes and healthy habits.

It is also for awareness of Type 1 Diabetes which affects not just the patient, but also families and caregivers.

Medical Associates of Northern New Mexico (MANNM) is organizing a diabetes walk to bring awareness to this important cause. The walk will be a timed or casual 5K or 1 mile course at Rover Park on Saturday Nov. 18 at 10:00 a.m.

There is no fee to register but donations are gratefully accepted .

All exercise proceeds benefit your health and financial proceeds will benefit ADA Camp 180 in New Mexico which “is a lifeline for children with diabetes to develop critical skills needed to thrive while managing their diabetes “
