LAPD NEWS RELEASE: 2:54 p.m.

The Los Alamos Police Department and the Los Alamos Fire Department are responding to the baseball fields on North Mesa for a dugout on fire.  Our dispatch center received calls around 2:03 pm this afternoon stating the dugout at the baseball fields was on fire. 

First responders are currently attempting to get the fire under control.  We ask for citizens to avoid the area and thank them for understanding the Police have shut down the road heading to the stables.  

CMDR. Daniel Roberts stated , “We understand this can be scary for surrounding neighborhoods and for stable owners, but there are no threats to surrounding areas at this time.  Our firefighters are doing a great job getting control of the fire.  We will update our Facebook page, Los Alamos County Police Department, and local media once we have more information”
