The Los Alamos High School Girls Soccer Kick for the Cure on Tuesday Oct 24 at Sullivan Field, including the 4 p.m. Varsity game against Taos and JV Game against Santa Fe, will raise funds for breast cancer through a raffle and a chance to shoot on the goalkeepers.
The Kick for the Cure had previously announced the funds raised would go to the Los Alamos Council on Cancer. There has been a change of charity donation due to unforeseen circumstances.
Diane Hammon, vice president of the Los Alamos Council on Cancer, expressed gratitude for the offered donation and recommended the funds raised by the LAHS Girls Soccer team at the Kick for the Cure be donated to national breast cancer nonprofit Susan G Komen in honor of breast cancer awareness month.
Susan G Komen serves 33 counties in New Mexico and 230 New Mexicans seek help and information from the Susan G Komen helpline every week. Since 1982, Komen has collectively invested $1.1 billion in breast cancer research.
Local resident Nancy Partridge, a Susan G Komen Advocacy Ambassador and longtime breast cancer fundraiser, will be attending the Girls Soccer Kick for the Cure.
