As we approach another school board election, it is important that all eligible voters participate because as we all know, the education of our children determines the future.
First, let me just say that we all make mistakes, but the best leaders acknowledge and learn from them. Unfortunately, Christine Bernstein has not taken responsibility for her shortcomings and failures over the past 4 years, which has cost us time and money which we will never get back.
With Lauren Coupland, I am concerned about her over-emphasis on “diversity, equity, and inclusion.” I believe that these are respected, moral values that should be taught in the home. Public education should focus on preparing students for the work force and job skills.
Sean Stanfield is the clear choice for School Board District 3. He is an honest, hard-working, and down-to-earth father of 3 who has been very involved in our school system. I admire his willingness to be active and work with others to improve education not only for his own children, but for many others. We need positive and fresh ideas to move us forward. With Sean, we will not get a school board member who refuses to acknowledge mistakes or who embraces questionable ideologies. We simply cannot afford further decline in our academic rankings. They say, “it takes a village to raise a child,” but a responsible and accountable school board is always a bonus. Sean Stanfield’s presence on the school board would be a welcome addition.
