I am writing to endorse and show support for Sean Stanfield for School Board District 3. I only met Sean recently, but have been impressed by his commitment to and volunteer time within Los Alamos Public Schools, particularly extra-curricular activities. Through these, he has built strong relationships with students, parents, and teachers. I am astounded at how many people already know and respect Sean, as I talk to voters in his District.
Sean understands that recruiting and retaining high-quality teachers is critical to academic success, and is exploring ways to offset the cost of living and expand housing for teachers. I appreciate his no-nonsense approach to bullying and racism which brings more clarity and decisiveness to our policies, procedures, expectations, AND enforcement. He recognizes the need to focus on academic excellence, while providing alternative opportunities to those who are not college bound.
From my interactions with Sean, it is clear that he is not a politician and does not have an agenda. He simply cares about our students and wants LAPS to focus on the basics of education so that they have the skills necessary to succeed. I am confident that he will prioritize community input, parents, and teachers in the decision-making process. If you would like to get to know Sean or have questions, please join me for his Meet & Greet on Oct. 25 from 4:30 p.m. to 6:00pm, at SALA Event Center.
Thank you,
