Meet the candidates for Los Alamos School Board and the UNM-LA Advisory Board at the League of Women Voters Candidate Forum on Thursday, October 5, in UNM-LA Lecture Hall Building 2, from 7-9 p.m.
LAPS Superintendent Jennifer Guy will explain the mill levy question. County Clerk Naomi Maestas will speak briefly about how this election will be conducted. Early in-person voting begins Tuesday, Oct. 10, at the County Municipal Building.
The Los Alamos Public School Board elections are divided into five voting districts, but only the three Townsite districts have openings this year. Voters vote only for a board member from their own district. To determine your LAPS voting district, go to NMVOTE.org (Voter Information Portal), click on the “Find My Registration and Election Information” box, and fill in the requested information.
School Board candidates, listed alphabetically according to districts, are:
- District 3: Christine Bernstein (Incumbent), Lauren Coupland, Sean Stanfield;
- District 4: Melanie Colgan (Incumbent);
- District 5: Sondra Wyman (Incumbent).
The candidates for two positions on the UNM-LA Advisory Board, listed alphabetically, are: Jose Carreno, Kristin Henderson, Chris Luchini, and John Pawlak.
