Executive Director Ryn Herrmann and the staff of the Los Alamos Chamber of Commerce and Los Alamos Commerce & Development Corporation turned out for College and Military Day on September 8 in support of Champions of Youth Ambitions (C’YA). They also hosted the traveling Military Mail for Troops Box, which now moves to White Rock. The White Rock Presbyterian Church will now host the box through the end of September.

The box welcomes all contributions of letters, drawing, cards or even donated postage stamps to send mail packages to local military members or family members, serving throughout the nation or the world.

“WRPC is happy to host the box,” said the Reverend Deb Beloved. “We’re always looking for ways to be of service to the larger community. It’s an honor for WRPC to serve as a connection spot between our neighbors and members of the military, by hosting the collection box.”

If you needed a good time to drop off some items, the church will be having another Parking Lot Sale this coming Saturday, Sept. 23, 8:00-11:30 am. Clothing, kitchenware, sports equipment, electronics, children’s toys, and more! Everything is “free,” with an invitation for people to donate what they can. 100% of the proceeds from the sale will be given to two Navajo organizations: Nihitaa’ Binaanish (based in Gallup, NM) and Chinle Planting Hope (based in Chinle, AZ).

If you’d like to know more, visit the church at www.wrpchurch.com. Those with family members serving, can contact C’YA to have mail care packages sent to their loved one by calling or texting (505) 695-9139 or emailing cya.org@att.net.
