Ready, set, RUN! Click here to register now for The Family YMCA’s annual Firecracker 5K Family Fun Run/Walk set for 8 a.m., Tuesday, July 4. Registration is open now, day of registrations are $5 more than pre registration. Race day check-in is at 7:15-7:45 am.

Prizes go to top male and female finishers in Kid, Youth, Adult 60+, Stroller (with a kid) and Dog Jogger categories.

Participants and volunteer race guides get a great t-shirt! Race volunteers should sign up through https://www.volunteerlosalamos.org/need/detail/?need_id=806101 Volunteers gather at 7:15 a.m., at the entrance of The Family YMCA for assignments. The Y’s July 4 Children’s Independence Day Parade, will happen in its new route, from The Family YMCA to Ashley Pond. Several individual and family-friendly activities will happen after the parade at Ashley Pond.

This free parade is a call for all ages to show their patriotic colors. People are encouraged to decorate bikes, favorite toys and four-legged family members. Pet owners must be able to restrain and clean up after pets. 

Participants should park at Central Park Square, and assemble at the Y’s flag pole at 1450 Iris Street starting by 10 a.m. American Legion members will perform a short flag-raising ceremony prior to the parade that will start immediately after the flag-raising. The American Legion will also provide food at the Pond.
