In observance of Juneteenth, Los Alamos County government offices will join other federal, state, and local governments and close on Monday, June 19

Juneteenth, also known as Emancipation Day, commemorates the emancipation of enslaved people in the United States. Recognizing and observing this holiday provides an important opportunity for all to reflect on and celebrate the accomplishments and contributions of African Americans throughout history.

While the county’s administrative offices, Atomic City Transit fixed bus routes, and the Environmental Services division are closed on Monday, the following facilities will be open during holiday hours:

–           Atomic City Transit Dial a Ride will operate from 6 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. To schedule, call (505) 661-Ride.

–           White Rock and Mesa libraries 1 p.m. to 5 p.m.

–           Walkup Aquatic Center 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.

–           Golf Course regular hours from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m.
