The following are the remarks made by Allison during the celebration:
I am honored to stand before you today to celebrate the 50th anniversary of Los Alamos Visiting Nurse Service. For half a century, our organization has been providing exceptional healthcare services to our community, and I am grateful to recognize and celebrate the people who have made this achievement possible.
In 1973, Sarah Rochester and Edythe Anderson established Los Alamos Visiting Nurse Service with the goal of providing high-quality healthcare services to patients in their own homes. This wonderful organization has grown and evolved to meet the changing needs of the communities of Northern New Mexico and our commitment to service has remained steadfast.
Over the past 50 years, the Los Alamos Visiting Nurse Service has touched the lives of countless individuals and families. LAVNS (as its often fondly referred to) and its staff have been privileged to have provided care and comfort during some of life’s most difficult moments. What a gift to have been trusted as a source of support and guidance as people navigate the complexities of managing illnesses, recovering from injuries, or even the end of life.
But the success of LAVNS would not be possible without the dedication of the nurses, physical therapists, physicians, CNAs, occupational therapists, social workers, chaplains, office staff, and volunteers who make it all possible. Their tireless efforts, compassion, and commitment to excellence have made the Los Alamos Visiting Nurse Service a truly exceptional organization.
So today, we celebrate not just the 50th anniversary of the Los Alamos Visiting Nurse Service, but also the countless lives touched and the countless more we will continue to impact in the years to come. Congratulations to everyone who has been a part of this incredible organization, and here’s to another 50 years of exceptional service. Thank you.
