FLAC NEWS RELEASE
Summer Art Camps are BACK at Fuller Lodge Art Center. With weekly, monthly or drop in registrations for most events, weekly art themes taught by your favorite teachers, stand-alone camps, outdoor activities, fun Fridays and MORE!
We made summer camp easier than ever for our parents who asked. No more sorting through a myriad of registrations dates and trying to coordinate to avoid repeat classes, now just select the times you want camp and your kiddo gets to spend a week making art!
Our Education Programmer, Becky Herroon, has worked with staff and teachers to bring themes to each week so students will learn about fun art techniques while creating creatures, wading through “water”, hiding out in the forest with puppets and stuffies, swinging swords and lightsabers, or enjoying a nature walk and quiet paint out. We’re covering all the bases this summer and hope to see your student join us!
Q: Why aren’t you doing all the individual classes anymore?
A: For the last year and a half, we’ve reached out to parents, teachers, other camps, community partners, and our educators network and heard that our camps were just too hard to navigate and register for in the past. All of the same great projects are going to be on site this year, only this year, we have streamlined sign ups and check-ins. When you’re student arrives for their first day of camp, we’ll sort them into classrooms by grade level, interests, and, when possible, keep them with their friends and buddies! No need to coordinate in the shopping cart!
Q: What will my student make at summer camp?
Each teacher will be able to create projects and teach art techniques to their class once they get to meet them on the first day of camp. Teachers have told us that its difficult to know if a project will meet the needs students they’ve never met, and changing up our format to allow for more flexibility allows them to teach to the student, rather than to the class description. Your student may create something a little different than their classmates, and that’s okay! The goal is to teach art in a way that doesn’t feel confining, and is student led to allow for the most creativity possible.
Q: What if we don’t need camp every day?
Drop-ins, Fun Fridays, Art Walks and more! We have a lot of options to meet your needs this summer. Not sure what’s right for you? Reach out to our Education department at email@example.com
Q: What about scholarships?
YES! We still have some scholarships available thanks to a generous donation to the Carl Maggiore Memorial Scholarship Fund by the Emily Bradley Memorial Fund. Contact Becky at firstname.lastname@example.org to find out how to use a scholarship for camps this summer.
