Los Alamos High School Graduating Senior Carter Watkins To Pursue Mechanical Engineering Degree At Colorado School Of Mines

Los Alamos High School graduating senior Carter Watkins will attend Colorado School of Mines in the fall where he will pursue a degree in Mechanical Engineering with an emphasis in automotive design.   He is honored to be the recipient of a Presidential Merit Scholarship from the university as well as the local Jim Sims Memorial Engineering Scholarship.

During his time at LAHS Carter was involved in the Project Y FRC Robotics team, which during his senior year earned a spot at Nationals in Houston, TX.  Carter was also a member of the National Honor Society, Natural Helpers, Mu Alpha Theta, and Los Alamos MTB (mountain biking) during his time at LAHS.  Some of his fondest memories from LAHS are from Mr. Scott Pomeroy’s auto shop and hanging out with his friends.

Carter is the son of Heath and Alison Watkins and the older brother of Hayden and Austin.  He is the grandson of Carol and the late Manny Honig.
