Los Alamos High School graduating senior Evan Long has been devoted to the field of robotics for many years. He has served as both design and construction lead for LAHS Team 4153 (“Project Y”) which developed a competitive robot that ultimately placed 4th in World’s Competition last year and another one that advanced to Regional Competitions in Houston this year.
His robotics interest also led to involvement in dual credit engineering courses through the LAECCA program, resulting in his graduating from UNM-Los Alamos with a Certificate in Robotics (Honors). Evan will also receive his bilingual Seal in German upon graduation from LAHS.
Evan was named as a candidate in the 2023 U.S. Presidential Scholars program. He is also a member of the National Society of High School Scholars (NSHSS) through which he was one of only 23 students to receive an internship to the CIA in Langley, Virg., last summer.
This fall, Evan attend the Cockrell School of Engineering at the University of Texas in Austin where he plans to major in mechanical and electrical engineering. He is the recipient of the four-year Texas Alumni (“Texas Exes”) scholarship.
Evan is the son of Ron and Celina Long.
