Los Alamos High School Juniors Luke Favorite and Maximus Posada have been recognized as Academic All-Americans by the National Speech and Debate Organization (NSDA).
The Academic All-American award recognizes high school students who have earned the degree of Superior Distinction by receiving 750 NSDA points through Speech and Debate tournaments and service projects. This award also requires students to maintain a 3.7 GPA and complete five semesters of high school courses.
“This award is truly an honor, but the honor is working with the Speech and Debate community,” shared Luke. He mainly participates and coaches United States Congressional Debate. Maximus, who participates in Lincoln Douglas Debate, noted how much he has “enjoyed his time in speech and debate and the profound impact this organization has had on [his] life.”
Luke and Maximus have been part of the Speech and Debate Team since 8th grade. Both students will be attending the National Speech and Debate Tournament in Phoenix, Arizona this June.
