Kite Festival Set For May 19-21 At Overlook Park In White Rock

LAAC NEWS RELEASE

Kite Festival returns to Los Alamos County the weekend of May 19-21. Los Alamos Arts Council and Enterprise Bank and Trust are proud to bring Kite Festival back to our community after a multi-year hiatus due to COVID restrictions and last year’s fire emergency. This is the largest Kite Festival in New Mexico, bringing in hundreds of local families to build and decorate kites, learn about kite history and artistic design, watch demos and just have fun in the spring sun! We have three fabulous days for our Los Alamos County families and neighboring communities.

Festivities kick off Friday night with a private event at Fuller Lodge Art Center for members, sponsors, and volunteers.

Saturday and Sunday 9 a.m. – 3 p.m. Kite building, demos, vendors, food! If your kiddo built a kite in one of our workshops or partner workshops, make sure to bring it! We have 300 FREE tee shirts for the first kiddos to bring us their kite or check-in and build a kite on site.  Demonstrations from beloved Kite Artists from around the state will take place throughout the day and we have a lot of cool arts and crafts vendors as well. Don’t forget to stop by PEECs Kite Workshop; they will be demonstrating how to build compostable kites!
