Los Alamos Public Schools Launches Piñon And Chamisa Elementary Schools Photo Contest

LAPS NEWS RELEASE

The Los Alamos Public Schools has launched the Piñon and Chamisa Elementary Schools Photo Contest. The deadline for submissions is 5 pm on Friday, June 2.

LAPS has been in the design phase for rebuilding both Piñon and Chamisa Elementary schools in White Rock.  They are scheduled to break ground at Piñon Elementary in late June. The new schools will both feature photographs from the area. We will be selecting photographs for the schools submitted by local residents (students and adults).

Five themes will be used in the new schools to identify classroom wings through the new  buildings. Photos submitted must follow one of these photo themes:

• Bandelier National Monument

• Valles Caldera National Preserve

• White Rock

• Rio Grande River

• Jemez Mountains

• Piñon or Chamisa vegetation

The selected photos’ photographers will be recognized at a Los Alamos Schools Board meeting.  They will also be invited and recognized at the school’s grand opening date, and have the photo theme, title and credit printed on the Piñon and Chamisa Elementary Schools wall mounted  graphic.

More information about the contest and how to submit photos may be found here.
