Student Seeks Support To Represent New Mexico At Youth Conference Of National Affairs

Los Alamos High School

Dear Los Alamos Community,

I am a sophomore at LAHS. One of my deepest passions is history and politics. I am so thankful to live in Los Alamos where our schools allow students to develop opinions on our country. Los Alamos is an extraordinary place for history. We have people in our town who care about preserving our past. Growing up here has substantially influenced my passions including wanting to be a lawyer.

Recently, I took a step outside of my comfort zone to attend the New Mexico Youth and Government Conference, where students from around the state come together for 3 days to hold a mock legislature. At the conference I passed my bill to provide trained sexual assault counselors at every hospital in New Mexico free of charge to the patient. Afterwards, I was awarded an honorary Senator award and I was selected to represent New Mexico at the Youth Conference of National Affairs this summer. I am ecstatic about the opportunity to advocate for different national issues on behalf of New Mexico. The YAG program has made a huge impact on me and I hope to be able to impact it as well.

In order to attend the conference, I am fundraising. I wanted to reach out to our community to tell them about some of the fundraisers I am participating in. First, from April 20th to April 24th, I am selling gourmet popcorn. The link for my store front is: Second, if you want to go see the New Mexico United Game please consider purchasing your tickets for May 13th through me. Here is the link to the poster: Lastly if you like art, please consider joining us at a Paint Night @ Kelly Jo’s Design by Wine May 23rd @ 6:30 pm. Here is the link:

I would really appreciate it if you could donate to help support my trip to the conference. Another way to help is through a sponsorship. If you are a local business you can sponsor the YAG program. Here is the form:

Overall, I am so honored to be selected to represent New Mexico because I want to use my voice to change the world. I am so thankful for our wonderful community and the YAG community for fostering an environment where youth voices are heard. The Los Alamos community has always shown me overwhelming generosity and endless support, so I sincerely thank anybody who donates or takes the time to read this letter. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me at

Thank you so much.
