Pat Santaniello was born in Springfield, Massachusetts in 1950. He passed away from COVID-19 related pneumonia in August of 2022, following a two year battle with cancer. Pat faced his health issues with remarkable courage and fortitude. Pat is survived by the love of his life, Lori Santaniello. Pat and Lori met when he moved from Massachusetts to Houston, Texas. They were married on February 6, 1983, and were near to celebrating 40 years of marriage.
Pat worked hard with his hands in the plumbing trade for all of his adult years. He first started as a plumber at the age of 17. He started his own company in Houston before moving to Los Alamos in 1991. Pat and Lori lived in Los Alamos for 22 years while running Santaniello’s Plumbing and Heating. In 2013 Pat retired from full-time plumbing and moved with Lori to Kerrville, TX to enjoy warmer weather. His humor, kindness, and pride in helping others led to continuing work in retirement for neighbors and friends with plumbing projects or problems. Pat also found an artistic side in retirement, and created a wide variety of folk art items, primarily from materials used in plumbing and construction. He would spend hours in his man cave/workshop constructing birdhouses, boats, shadowboxes and all manner of inspired creative works.
Pat chose the simple life of working in the plumbing trade, and loved helping others solve their problems on a daily basis. Pat had a wicked and dry sense of humor, and he could make even a bad joke fun. His ready smile and humor will be missed by all of those who came to know him.
Pat loved his life with Lori and they lived their lives together with exceptional freedom and spirit. This freedom was particularly enjoyed by Pat and Lori while riding their motorcycles or while RVing in beautiful locations along with their beloved standard schnauzers. Donations in Pat’s name are welcomed for the American Cancer Society.
There will be a Celebration of Life in Pat’s memory at the Los Alamos Sheriff’s Posse Lodge at 650 N. Mesa Road, Los Alamos at 4 p.m. on Saturday, May 13, 2023. Beverages and snack foods will be provided. This will be an informal event where memories and stories of Pat will be shared and music will be enjoyed.
