COUNTY NEWS RELEASE
Los Alamos County Parks Division is looking forward to warmer temperatures to allow them to start work resurfacing the tennis and pickleball courts across the county. The project, which was originally scheduled to begin April 1, 2023, has been pushed to June 1, 2023, due to the unusually cold spring weather.
“We had anticipated an earlier start,” said Parks Superintendent Wendy Parker, “but the weather plays a big role in the process, since we need temperatures to be consistently above the 50-degree mark.”
Eight tennis courts and two pickleball courts will be resurfaced this summer: Barranca Mesa Park Tennis Courts (3), Rover Park Tennis Courts (2), Piñon Park Tennis Courts (3), and Myrtle Park Pickleball Courts (2). The contractor anticipates starting June 1, 2023, and if all goes well, project completion is anticipated by June 30, 2023.
Parks will provide a more detailed court schedule, as well as alternate play locations available during the resurfacing project closer to the start date. Signs will also be posted at the courts one week before resurfacing begins. The courts will remain closed for 7-10 days to allow the resurfacing product to cure.
