On Thursday, March 16, Col. Pia Romero, the Director of Joint Staff for the New Mexico Army National Guard was the guest speaker at the Los Alamos Public Safety Association meeting. During COL Romero’s presentation she discussed how Los Alamos most can utilize the New Mexico Army National Guard in emergencies. The group discussed the process and capabilities of the NMARNG. Col. Romero was presented with a coin in appreciation of her presentation.
The Los Alamos Public Safety Association (LAPSA) meets every month to develop contacts across the public safety sector. The purpose of the Los Alamos Public Safety Association is to create a forum for senior managers who are actively involved in public safety-related positions within the Los Alamos Region to meet, discuss areas of mutual interest, consider such actions as may be in the mutual interest of the group to improve and coordinate public safety activities. Members include the Police, Fire, DOE, NNSA, N3B, FBI, LANL Emergency Management, Behavior Health, Chaplain Corp and others.
