Great news: New Mexico has confirmed its participation in the Climate Pollution Reduction Grant program! This program is part of the Inflation Reduction Act which will support states, tribes, territories, and metropolitan areas in creating or updating plans for reducing greenhouse gas emissions.
However, while Albuquerque is also eligible for participation as a metropolitan area, it has not yet confirmed its participation and only has until April 28 to do so.
Now is a great time to share this possibility with your friends and family in Albuquerque so that they can reach out to their local officials and encourage participation:
- Albuquerque Mayor Tim Keller
- Albuquerque City Council
- Albuquerque’s Metropolitan Development Agency
- Bernalillo County departments related to development services, buildings, sustainability, and climate
- Albuquerque Sustainability Office
Citizens’ Climate Lobby has created letter templates to help you reach out to these folks with a hard copy letter, an email, a phone call, or even a Tweet.
To make extra impact, you can consider publishing a letter to the editor to raise awareness about this opportunity.
