COUNTY NEWS RELEASE
Los Alamos County is accepting applications to fill one position on the Board of Public Utilities (BPU). Comprising five voting members, the BPU governs the Department of Public Utilities (DPU), a county-owned utility that provides Los Alamos with electric, water, natural gas and wastewater services. Applications must be submitted by 11:59 p.m. on Thursday, April 27.
The appointed individual will fill a position to be vacated on July 1 due to an expiring term, and will serve from that date through June 30, 2028. Interested parties can find out more about the board at https://ladpu.com/BPU and complete an online application at https://ladpu.com/BPUApplication. All applications for Los Alamos County boards and commissions must be submitted online–paper applications are not available. If you require assistance with completing a BPU application, please contact Kathy Casados at 505.662.8136 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
Members of the BPU work together with the DPU to serve and represent the interests of the community. Through policy direction, the BPU guides DPU’s senior management to realize its mission to create a high-performing, community-centric utility, contributing to its future with diversified and innovative utility solutions. BPU regular meetings are held every third Wednesday and work sessions are held every first Wednesday of each month. All meetings are held in a hybrid fashion (in-person at 1000 Central Ave. and on Zoom) at 5:30 p.m.
