Obituary: Marjorie Arlene Beach McInroy Nov. 2, 1931 – Jan. 7, 2023

Marjorie (Marge) McInroy, 91, of Rio Rancho, NM, passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by family on the morning of January 7, 2023.

Marge was born on November 2, 1931, to Floyd and Bertha (Louise) Beach in Mansfield, PA.  She was the youngest of their three children, following brother Earl and sister Marie.

On September 5, 1953, she married the love of her life, Jim McInroy.  Their marriage of 69 years served as an example of love and commitment.  Over the years their love grew as did their family.  They welcomed five children, Barbara, Robert, David, William and Sandra into their lives.  They raised their family while living in New York, Pennsylvania, Colorado and finally moved to New Mexico in 1972.  Along the way they made many great friends and memories in the various areas that they lived.

Nothing was more important to Marge than family.  She was our greatest advocate and supporter.  Being the mother of five McInroy children required a sense of humor and strength of monumental proportions.

Never looking for recognition, she always put others first.   She volunteered for many organizations over the years. The BSA Cub Scout program and the United Church of Los Alamos Thrift Shop were two organizations that she felt particularly fond of.

She was a great cook, who kept an immaculate house and was even known to clean it before the housekeeper came.  Like her father, she had a passion for gardening, which she passed on to her kids.  Among her greatest joys in retirement were the many winters she and Jim spent in Florida.  She loved reconnecting with family from the East Coast, which also lived there during the winter months.  Marge and Jim loved having their family and friends visit and spending time on the beach shelling and collecting shark’s teeth.

Marge is survived by her husband of 69 years, James “Jim” McInroy, her children Barbara Lindsay (Keith), Bob McInroy (Rhonda), Dave McInroy (Lorri), Bill McInroy (Shelly), Sandy Keyser (Richard),   her grandsons Don Hamilton, Chris Smith (Melissa), Travis McInroy (Crista), Jeff McInroy (Amanda), Kyle McInroy, Ryan Keyser (Amanda), Austin Keyser, 6 great-grandchildren and 1 great, great-grandchild.

Words cannot express the depth of our gratitude for the gift of such a wonderful and giving wife, mother, grandmother and friend.

A private, family service will be held in February.  In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations are made to the United Church of Los Alamos Thrift Shop, (an organization that helps Northern New Mexico families in need) and an organization Marge strongly believed in.
