LAPS: Update On August Cyber Attack

BY JENNIFER GUY
Acting Superintendent
Los Alamos Public Schools

Over the next few days, some of you may receive a letter in the mail with the notification that some of your personal information was involved when we had the cyber security incident on August 8, 2022. The letters were mailed to anyone whose information was identified in any of the files that may have been accessed. Each letter has the information specific to you that may have been involved, specific information about what you steps you can take to protect your information, a telephone number to call for support, and a personalized activation code for credit monitoring

If you do not get a letter, your information was most likely not involved. If you want more information about this potential exposure or want to verify that your information was not involved, you can call 1-888-503-7842 Monday – Friday from 7:00 a.m. – 7:00 p.m. excluding U.S. Holidays.

On a more positive note, LAHS High School teacher Lynn Ovaska and her students were featured on NBC Nightly News for Kids this weekend. It is a beautiful story. I am including a link here. The story about LAHS starts at 20:00 minutes into the broadcast. It is a wonderful reminder to take the time to show gratitude.

I am grateful to work at Los Alamos Public Schools. I hope you have a nice break and happy holiday season.
