LARSO NEWS RELEASE
The Los Alamos Retired and Senior Organization recently made a kitchen move from the Betty Ehart Senior Center, to the White Rock Senior Center.
“When life handed us lemons, we made a lemon vinegar cleaning solution and got to work,” said LARSO Executive Director, Bernadette Lauritzen. “Well not exactly, but while the construction start date has changed, it gives us a GREAT opportunity to do some deep cleaning that we hadn’t planned yet.”
The Betty Ehart Senior Center will work with their community partner, Fernando Trujillo to get a deep cleaning on the floors, some stripping and waxing and more. LARSO, the non-profit the runs both centers had to put a plan in place, for what would be a three-month renovation project. When the December start date changed, the plan was to remain, for the whole month.
“A college holiday break has proved perfect, for additional manpower to tackle many projects,” said Lauritzen. During what could be viewed as a set-back, a quick plan was drawn up for cleaning, organization, and maybe even some painting.”
The larger plans for renovation include; a walk-in freezer, some new appliances and more. Details of the project will become available within the next few weeks. Lauritzen is working with Project Manager Anthony Strain and Interim and Interim Social Service Manager Katherine Hudspeth, who she describes as, “fantastic team mates.”The new plan will resume food service out of both buildings in January. They will do both indoor and drive thru dining, at that time. Currently indoor service is available in White Rock and drive thru, at the Betty Ehart Senior Center. www.LARSO.org or 505-662-8920.
