Kim Granzow of Los Alamos has won a silver medal at the World Masters Weightlifting Competition in Orlando, Florida. Granzow competed in the 65-59 year old women’s division, between 59 and 64 kg in weight. She qualified for the competition in both 2020 and 2022 but both events were canceled.

“The third time is a charm,” Granzow said. “I am so grateful for my awesome coach and daughter Rachel, and Kelly Kramer.”

She said she counted 60 flags during the opening ceremony.

“They hoisted each flag and a man sang a few lines of that country’s national anthem. There were four competitors in my age group weight class; three from the USA and on from Canada. The Canadian woman and I tied for the same total but because I lifted the tying lift first, I got the silver medal. I didn’t make all my lifts but I’m happy,” she said.
