On Sunday, August 28, 2022, our beloved Mother, Ardith McFarland, quietly passed away in her sleep. She had celebrated her 100th birthday on January 27, 2022.
Her whole life was her family. She and her late husband, Ralph McFarland, celebrated 57 years of marriage. Ardith is survived by two children Richard McFarland (Dixie) and wife Myrna. Daughter Cherryl Mingo and husband Denny, 3 Grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. Ardith and Ralph moved to Los Alamos, NM, in 1957 from Denver, Colorado. The lived in Los Alamos until their retirement in 1982, at which time they moved to Sun Lakes, Arizona. While living in Los Alamos Ardith was a beautician at Los Alamos Beauty Salon, Combs Beauty Salon, and lastly her own salon-The Smart Set! She always looked forward to going to work to spend time with her clients/friends. She considered all of her clients to be her friends. She was a hairdresser for 40 years. When not working she was very happy cooking, sewing, boating and waterskiing. She truly was devoted to her famiy. It was a good life for all of us.
Retirement was a wonderful chapter in their Book of Life. She and Ralph had a motorhome and loved to travel. Along with enjoying the beautiful sights of our great country, they made many friends wherever they went. Living in an Active Retirement Community there were many activities to explore. Oil Painting class was a passion and she found that she was quite good. Dancing, exercise classes, and entertaining kept her busy.
Her 100 years were full of life. She was never too busy for a good laugh or showing an act of kindness to others. She was a wonderful Mother.
Her ashes will be interned with her husband’s at the Veteran’s Memorial Cemetery in Phoenix, AZ.
