BUSINESS NEWS RELEASE

November marks eight years in Los Alamos for Boomerang Consignment and one year for their new Gaia Gift Shop located within Boomerang.

Eight years ago, on Small Business Saturday, Boomerang Consignment and Resale first opened its doors to the Los Alamos Community. Owner Anna Dillane had a shop in Espanola for 14 years prior and decided to bring the joy north into the Secret City. The shop quickly became a favorite of locals and tourists alike; where they could enjoy the colorful and fun atmosphere, find unique treasures from designer clothing to home decor and collectibles, and where they felt seen and valued. Dillane closed the Espanola shop two years later when her landlord sold the property.

Seven years later, Dillane and Assistant Manager Heather Elliott lamented the lack of fun gift shops in town. They brainstormed the best way to bring one to Los Alamos and realized that they could open one right inside Boomerang with some creative rearranging and re-purposing of the space. Now, when you walk into Boomerang, simply head to the right for their Gift shop which specializes in the *Science-y, the Snarky and the Sacred* or turn left and head into the most boutique like consignment shop you will most likely ever come across. Customers often comment that Boomerang feels more like Neiman Marcus than the usual Consignment experience. Visitors to town often plan their trips around a visit to Boomerang.

In Gaia Gifts, you will find Solar spectrum earrings and Totally awesome scientist mugs; New Mexico funny T Shirts and souvenirs; Pride items like socks, flags, and stickers;snarky magnets and tea towels; tie dye and festival clothing; and peace prayer flags, incense and pendulums; just to name a few of the hundreds of items. Inventory is brand new and changes constantly.

In Boomerang you will still find amazing clothing (for the whole family);furniture and home décor; shoes and accessories; antiques and collectibles; books, records and dvds; and even an under $10 rack (upstairs).

They are celebrating all month with a raffle (every $25 purchase earns an entry).

Gaia Gifts and Boomerang invite the whole community to come and celebrate with them on Nov. 26 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. with a big party that will include cookies by culinary expert Marilyn Johns, a prize wheel to be spun with every purchase, Angel Card Readings, 15 minute Style sessions with the Amazing Heather, mini make up tutorials, and more!

It isn’t every day that a local, woman owned, small business celebrates 8 years in this town, and after surviving the challenges of Covid, Gaia and Boomerang staff are proud to celebrate that they are not just surviving, they are thriving!
