The Defense Nuclear Facilities Safety Board (DNFSB) will hold a public hearing Wednesday, Nov. 16 in Santa Fe to gather information regarding legacy waste cleanup activities, nuclear safety and increased production activities at Los Alamos National Laboratory.
The DNFSB is an independent organization within the executive branch that is chartered with the responsibility of providing recommendations and advice to the President and the Secretary of Energy regarding public and safety issues at Department of Energy defense nuclear facilities such as LANL. There are two resident DNFSB inspectors assigned to LANL,
The public is invited to attend the meeting, which will take place at the Santa Fe Community Convention Center from noon to 9:45 p.m. It will be divided into four sessions;
- 12 p.m. – Nuclear Safety at Area G
- 4 p.m. – National Security Missions and Nuclear Safety Postures
- 6:30 p.m. – Improving Safety Systems, Safety Management Programs and Oversight.
- 8;30 p.m. – Public Comment and Wrap Up
