COUNTY NEWS RELEASE
The Planning and Zoning Commission will hear a request from Los Alamos County Community Development Department (CDD) to recommend to the County Council to amend Chapter 16 Development Code, with a comprehensive update through Ordinance 02-333 at a public hearing held virtually on Wednesday, Oct. 26 at 5:30 p.m. Interested community members can join using the following Zoom link.
Chapter 16 is the County’s zoning code that defines how property in specific geographic zones can be used and developed. CDD and DPS have incorporated into the final draft public feedback received during the Module 1, 2 and 3 review periods and input from the Code Update Steering Committee. If approved by Council, the Ordinance will repeal and replace in its entirety the text of Chapter 16, “County of Los Alamos Development Code.”
The public may provide up to three (3) minutes of public comment at the Planning and Zoning Commission meeting. The final draft document will be available online at
https://losalamosconnect.org/ at least 72 hours before the meeting.
The final Chapter 16 Development Code ordinance will be introduced to the County Council on November 15, 2022, with the public hearing and presentation on November 30, 2022, to be considered for adoption. Both meetings begin at 6 p.m. in Council Chambers, 1000 Central Ave., Los Alamos for in-person public, and virtual public can attend using the following Zoom link.
This comprehensive update to Chapter 16 through the Planning and Zoning Commission’s possible recommendation and the County Council’s possible adoption of Ordinance 02-333
is a legislative act that will affect every parcel in the County.
