LAPSA NEWS RELEASE

The Los Alamos Public Safety Association (LAPSA) recognized Alexander Suazo, 2022 LAPSA Scholarship recipient, at their October meeting.  Cmdr. Daniel Roberts, Los Alamos Police Department and LAPSA treasurer, presented the award.  The $500.00 scholarship is awarded annually.  Northern New Mexico residents pursuing degrees in criminal justice, fire science, emergency management or emergency medical services at the University of New Mexico-Los Alamos are eligible to apply.  Scholarship funds are paid toward tuition costs for selected students.

Suazo is studying Fire Science and anticipates obtaining his degree in the fall, 2023.  He chose to continue his education because of his passion for firefighting and his desire to equip himself to serve as a leader in his field.  In addition to his coursework, Suazo is a firefighter with the City of Espanola Fire Department and has 12 years of service as a volunteer firefighter with the Santa Clara Pueblo Fire Department.  His future aspirations include increasing fire prevention resources and awareness in his community.
