LALT NEWS RELEASE
Los Alamos Little Theatre auditions for “8x10s: 7 Come 11” are underway at 7 pm Monday, Oct. 10, and Wednesday, Oct. 12, at the Performing Arts Center, 1670 Nectar Street.
The production, to be performed in January 2023, features eight short plays written by local playwrights. No previous acting experience is required.
“The 8 by 10s are a great way for people new to theatre or who maybe haven’t done theatre for a while to get involved,” said producer John Gustafson. “There is much less time commitment memorizing lines for a 10-minute play than for a full-length production. The rehearsal time is also abbreviated.”
Scripts for the eight plays are available at the Mesa and White Rock public libraries, or can be accessed online by emailing a request to johngus@cybermesa.com.
Each play has its own director, who will ask people who audition to read a short excerpt or act out a scene from the script. Callbacks, if necessary, will be held Friday, Oct. 14.
This will be LALT’s seventh production of the short-play format since 2006. It has been an entry point for many new LALT members over the years.
The plays to be performed are:
Aliens, written by Stephanie Karr and Mark Watts, directed by Fred Berl
All Aboard!, written by Michael Burgan and directed by Kelly Dolejsi
Alphabet Soup, written by John Gustafson and directed by Terry Beery
An Unusual Bird, written by Vicky Meagher and directed by Jazmine Torres
Gun Play, written by Dale Dunn and directed by Valerie Lawdensky and Jazmine Torres
Necktie, written by Cunningham North and directed by Gloria Galassi
Sleeping Through Armageddon, written by Tess Light and directed by Seona Zimmermann
