LAPS NEWS RELEASE

It’s time to start planning for this year’s Homecoming Parade on Friday, Sept. 16. This year’s theme is “End the Elks.”  The Los Alamos High School Varsity Football team will host the Pojoaque Elks that evening at Sullivan Field. Game time is 7 pm.

The parade will begin at 2:30p.m. starting at the Mari Mac Village parking lot, proceeding down Central Avenue to Rose Street. Judges will be seated outside the post office.

Staging begins at 1:30p.m. at the Mari Mac Village parking lot. Enter via Trinity, no entrance via Central.

Walkers should be dropped off at the Canyon School Complex parking lot. The parking lot should be accessed via Canyon Road and 4th street.  Access to Central Avenue and 4th street will be closed at the roundabout.  Walkers will congregate on Central Avenue (see map) to be introduced into the parade between floats.

Lanes will be set up for the floats and vehicles in the Mari Mac Village parking lot.   Floats and vehicles should use Trinity.  Once reaching the Mari Mac parking lot vehicles will be directed into the appropriate lane.  Please do not arrive at the lot earlier than 1:30pm in order to not block the lanes before they are established.  Floats and vehicles may not be parked at the Mari Mac Village lot before 1:30 pm.

The fee for all float/vehicle entries is $15 and $10 for walkers.  Checks may be made payable to LAPS.  There is an online payment option this year, available HERE. Online payment includes a convenience fee and applications still need to be submitted.

Parade applications may be found on the Los Alamos High School website at https://laschools.net/lahs/.  Completed forms and payment are due to the LAHS Bookkeeper lahsbookkeeper@laschools.net  or 663-2528, by 3:15 p.m. on Tuesday, September 13th. Please contact lahsactivities@laschools.net with any questions.
