Good evening LAPS staff and community,
I’m connecting with you tonight to update you on our recent cyber incident that occurred and our ongoing response to it. As you know during our first week of school with students, we began experiencing network outages and other technical difficulties that resulted in a disruption to certain computer systems.
We quickly secured our systems and commenced an investigation into the nature and scope of this incident. We have been working with third-party computer specialists to investigate the source of this disruption and the impact on our systems. Although our investigation remains ongoing, we have learned that an unauthorized intruder gained access to our systems. We are reviewing the data to understand what risks are involved and accurately identify anyone who might be potentially impacted so that we may provide notice and specific next steps.
This situation is new for LAPS and is in its early stages. We understand that you may have questions not addressed in this message. Please know that we are investigating the incident thoroughly to gain clarity. We will provide additional supports early next week. I appreciate your patience and understanding. I appreciate our tight-knit community resilience as we forge through challenges together.
Have a great Labor Day weekend,
