The first Hawk Hangout of the school year was a success. These monthly, social activities for middle school students are hosted by Los Alamos County Recreation, Teen Court, Library and Social Service departments, in collaboration with the Los Alamos Middle School, YMCA, Youth Activity Center, Los Alamos Police Department and Los Alamos JJAB.

The first activity of the year was hosted at the Los Alamos Ice Rink, where 80 middle school youth gathered for free roller blading, cotton candy, popcorn and games.

The next activity is 3:30-5:30 p.m. Sept. 15 at Los Alamos Middle School. The Middle School homecoming float will be decorated, and there will be games, snacks and other activities.
