
The Karen Wray Gallery at 1247 Central Avenue has announced the class schedule for this fall:
Intermediate Oil Painting-Karen E. Wray, Instructor
Tuesday mornings, 9:30-12:30 Sept. 6 – Oct. 25
More emphasis is placed in this class on building skills and confidence through practice and experimentation. Students should have a working knowledge and some experience with basic painting fundamentals. Students may use their own photographs and will work on several paintings at a time. Students will be encouraged to try different color schemes, try different formats, change elements to improve their design, and experiment with other subject matter and designs.
Class runs for eight weeks and the cost is $215 plus supplies (supply list available now).
Continuing Drawing-Jared Krupp, Instructor
Wednesday mornings, 9:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. Sept. 7 – Oct. 26
This class is geared for students who are interested in refining their drawing skills. Prior experience with basic drawing is highly recommended.

Thursday mornings, 9:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. Sept 8 – Oct. 27
After completing the Beginning Painting Class described below, students will add additional colors to their palette and learn about color theory, making and using complementary colors, analogous colors, how to darken, lighten, tint, shade, and tone colors. Students will paint color charts and simple still life arrangements. I guarantee you will be hooked on painting after this!

Beginning Drawing-Jared Krupp, Instructor
Friday mornings, 9:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. Sept. 9 – Oct. 28
This class introduces students to the fundamentals of drawing. Students will learn how to draw, beginning with the four basic shapes: spheres, cylinders, cubes, and cones, focusing on shading, proportions, negative space, and aerial and linear perspective.

Painting for the Absolute Beginner-Karen E. Wray, Instructor
Saturday mornings, 9:30 a.m. -12:30 p.m. Sept. 10 – Oct. 29
This class is designed for the absolute beginner and is focused on the basic fundamentals of painting. Oil paint is the chosen medium due to its forgiving and slow-drying nature. Students will learn about the materials, safety, brushes, and surfaces or supports, creating the illusion of a 3D form on a 2D surface using values, simple composition, and mixing colors using a limited palette. Students will paint color charts and simple still life arrangements. Instructor will use demonstrations and discussion, in addition to student’s hands-on experience to introduce and practice basic concepts. You will never see everyday things the same way again!
