Los Alamos Tennis Club
Despite multiple bouts of inclement weather, the Los Alamos Tennis Club’s 5th Annual Joel Williams Tennis Tournament was held from July 28-31 at Urban Park and Pinon Park courts. While the weather could have (and sometimes literally did!) put a damper on the festivities and play, the 35 plus participants collectively enjoyed more than 60 matches of tennis and barbeque that occurred over the weekend.
Participants ranged in skill from former college and semi-professional players to those who have played recreationally. The interested spectators and lower-level players were delighted to have the opportunity to watch high-level competition on our local courts as the 4.5+ Men’s Singles and Doubles competitors battled for dominance. For the recreational players, the tournament was a wonderful opportunity to visit with other players and enjoy playing multiple matches.
The Los Alamos Tennis Club would like to greatly thank the following wonderful folks, whose dedication to supporting tennis in our community and putting on the tournament every year is without compare: David Rutherford and Nicola Winch of Atomic Tennis for organizing the tournament and to Bob and Sue Tonelli for holding the barbeque for everyone! We would also like to thank the following sponsors for their generosity in providing prizes: Atomic Tennis, Diadem Sports, Tecnifibre, Bathtub Row Brewing Co-Op and Metzgers Hardware.
