THE FAMILY YMCA NEWS RELEASE
Golfers in The Family YMCA’s August 26 golf tournament not only get a chance at a large cash award and other prizes, they get to play soccer, ring toss and other games on the course as they support a charitable cause. Most of players fee is a donation that ensures no one is turned away from Y programs for inability to pay.
Y CEO Chris Daniels said golfers and other donors are helping 100 people, half of whom are children, to be in Y programs.
“The golfers tell us this is a really fun tournament, and we value that they play to help our local community members,” he said.
“We are happy and grateful to partner again with the Los Alamos Golf Association (LAGA) who is hosting our registration through their website,” said Daniels.
“We’re limited to 108 players, so we encourage everyone to sign up as soon as possible to ensure a spot,” he said.

ABOUT THE Y: The Family YMCA is a charitable, nonprofit organization that was started in 1955 by volunteers who recognized the need for a place for families to recreate together. In 2007, City of Española administrators awarded the Y a contract and partial funding to provide a teen center as a resource for community youth. In 2011, Los Alamos County awarded the Y a contract to operate a center locally. In 2022, the Y anticipates awarding $90,000 in scholarships to 100 individuals, half of whom are children in Y After School and Camp programs.
