It’s County Fair Time! Aug. 11-14

COOPERATIVE EXTENSION NEWS RELEASE

The Los Alamos Cooperative Extension Service would like to invite you to this year’s County fair, August 11-14.  Our fair has a proud history of showcasing the best of Los Alamos County: its youth, community, and talent which you will find at the indoor exhibits at Mesa Public Library, third floor.  This year’s fair continues to salute those things of which we are most proud with our fair theme of “Stars, Stripes and Summer Nights.”

After months of hard work by our 4-H members, community members and citizens of Los Alamos County, their projects are complete and the time to exhibit them at the fair has arrived.  Once you are at the fair you will find mouth-watering food, and creative works waiting for your viewing.  From Art to Bouquets of Flowers, Leather to Woodworking, Cake Decorating to Home Environment, Quilts to Stitchery, the talent of Los Alamos County will be on display.

The Los Alamo County Fair is the culmination of months of planning and preparation by the county recreation division who coordinate the rodeo, fair vendors and music among others things. Los Alamos MainStreet who coordinates the parade; the Los Alamos Arts Council who coordinates the arts and crafts fair; Stroll the Stables sponsored by Los Alamos Stable-Owners Association. The Los Alamos Cooperative Extension coordinates the indoor exhibits. Also, this event could not go on without all the many volunteers, parents, judges and superintendents who help make this yearly event possible. Their support and commitment to excellence are what makes our fair an outstanding event in the state.

There is something for everyone, whether you want to hear the music of Sim Balkey on Friday night, see the parade on Saturday morning, try your luck at the Pie Contest on Saturday by submitting your homemade fruit pie, watch the “Whatever It Takes Rodeo Series”, or just checking out all the arts and crafts vendors and organizations that will be set up around Ashley Pond and Fuller Lodge. Please join us for food, entertainment and fun!!!
