Wednesday’s Schedule For Los Alamos ScienceFest 2022

Los Alamos ScienceFest 2022 has several events scheduled in the community for this Wednesday, July 13.

1:30-2:30 PM – What’s Up Wednesday, “Hivemind,” White Rock Branch Library

Create a bee-shaped nature art frame, seed bombs, and play some fun outdoor pollination games. More information is available on the Mesa Public Library website here.

6 PM – Panel Discussion: Hydrogen & Clean Energy, Bradbury Science Museum

Panel discussion on the facets of Hydrogen and fuel cells, efforts in New Mexico and surrounding region to change our carbon footprint. Guest panelists include Rod Borup, Hydrogen and Fuel Cells, Duncan McBranch, New Mexico Region Progress on Hydrogen HUBs, and George Guthrie, iWEST – On the road to carbon neutrality in the Intermountain West. Due to LANL COVID regulations the event will have limited capacity and require masks for attendees. Please register here.

6 PM  Summer Family Evening – Animals & Agriculture: Horse, Pony & Goat, Los Alamos Nature Center

Livestock owners Lisa Reader and Dianne Wilburn bring some of their friendliest animals to the nature center to meet you! Meet a horse, a pony, and a goat and hear about their lives on the Pajarito Plateau. Mini horses and more! $0/member family, $5/non-member family. Admission is paid at the door. 

8:15 PM  Movie in the Park: “The Mitchells Vs. the Machines,” Ashley Pond Park

This PG-rated 2021 film runs approximately 1hr 54 minutes and is family-friendly! All ages welcome for this free event. No tickets required! A quirky, dysfunctional family’s road trip is upended when they find themselves in the middle of the robot apocalypse and suddenly become humanity’s unlikeliest last hope.

Los Alamos ScienceFest Discovery Day will take place at Ashley Pond Park on Saturday, July 16 from 10am-3pm, with interactive Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Math (STEAM) exhibitors, food, drinks, music, free bouncy houses for the kids, robotics area and more. Those interested in flying their drone should bring it to Discovery Day and participate in the Drone Zone as well. The Los Alamos Farmers Market will also have some vendors available.
